Agro Care Agro Care

Built in Bangladesh,
for Bangladesh.

A twelve-year history, told in order — no press-release voice, no founder myth. The decisions, in the months they were made.

The essay

§ One

The starting belief.

Agro Care began in 2012 with a single shipment of imported veterinary minerals and a thesis: that Bangladesh's animal-health market was being served by formulations designed elsewhere — and those formulations were good, but they weren't tuned for our feed, our seasons, or our cattle.

The plan was modest. We would import the best available products, label them honestly, and let our partner network do the rest. That plan changed within eighteen months.

§ Two

A research partnership changes the plan.

In 2014 we approached the Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University — Bangladesh's leading veterinary research institution — with a simple question: could we co-develop formulations that started from local feed conditions rather than adapting global SKUs?

The CVASU faculty had been studying micronutrient gaps in Bangladeshi feed for years. We had the manufacturing intent, the capital to fund trials, and a partner network ready to distribute. The first proprietary formulation arrived in 2016 as Vita Feed Gold.

§ Three

The licences, then the scale.

The work after 2016 was discipline, not scale. The Department of Livestock Services registered our first dozen products under Category 1 in 2018; we extended into Category 2 and joined AHCAB in 2021. For the imported part of the catalogue we hardened our sourcing rule — only ISO 9001:2015 and GMP-certified manufacturing partners, with certificates and batch-level documentation on file before each shipment ships. The scope of every credential is published on the Certifications page.

We could have grown faster by importing more SKUs and undercutting on price. We chose not to. The partners we work with carry one Agro Care product per district — local stock, local advice, transparent pricing.

§ Four

The biscuit — and what comes next.

In 2024 we launched Vita Feed Biscuit: the first cattle biscuit ever produced in Bangladesh. It is the same nutritional intent as Vita Feed Gold, pressed into a single shelf-stable pellet for the twelve-to-eighteen-month fattening window where dosing accuracy matters most.

The next decade is more of the same: research-led formulation, audited manufacturing, local distribution — and the discipline to refuse the shortcuts that would erode any of the three.

From the founder

A note, in his own words.

I started my journey in 1996, as a market development officer at a reputable veterinary pharmaceutical company.

Travelling between farms, I kept seeing the same two problems — most of our animals lacked proper nutrition, and the companies in the market were selling similar products at a high cost. I kept asking myself how it could be done differently: effective, but at a price a working farm could actually afford.

That question turned into a company. With one of my business partners I started selling low-cost, effective animal-health products to local farmers.

In 2010, I had a new idea — an alternative protein source for ruminant animals. With the technical guidance of Professor Md Emran Hossain of the Department of Animal Science and Nutrition at CVASU (the Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University), I began making cattle biscuits for ruminants using the UMMB method. It was the first time anyone had pressed cattle biscuits at scale in Bangladesh, and I established a new company around that work — Agro Care Animal Products. The follow-on field-trial work with CVASU has since been peer-reviewed and published as an academic paper.

Within a few years, the response from customers was overwhelming.

In 2015, I began importing animal-feed supplements from ISO 9001, GMP and WHO-aligned certified manufacturers abroad, so our shelf carried both our own formulations and audited imports. In 2020, I started processing TMR (Total Mixed Ration) for ruminant animals — a project I am still working on today, with the same goal as the day I started: to provide the best support possible at a reasonable price.

Thank you.

Timeline

Twelve years, in order.

The decisions and milestones that took Agro Care from a single imported shipment to a country-wide manufacturer. Indexed, dated, brief.

Timeline

  1. A shipment, a thesis

Founded with a single imported batch of veterinary minerals and a two-person team. The starting belief: formulations developed for European cattle were not the right answer for Bangladeshi feed.

    2012
  2. CVASU partnership begins

Approached the Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University with one question — could we co-develop formulations tuned to the actual nutritional profile of local rations? The faculty said yes.

    2014
  3. Vita Feed Gold launches

The first proprietary mineral-vitamin premix to come out of the CVASU collaboration. Designed around Bangladeshi dairy and fattening rations, not adapted from a global SKU. Category leader within eighteen months.

    2016
  4. DLS Category 1 licence

Received the Department of Livestock Services' Category 1 licence — Agro Care's first regulatory credential in its own name. The scope is detailed on the Certifications page.

    2018
  5. AHCAB member · DLS Category 2

Joined the Animal Health Companies Association of Bangladesh as a member — the standard for transparent labelling and partner-network conduct. Extended the DLS registration to Category 2 the same year, covering specific therapeutic formulations.

    2021
  6. Vita Feed Biscuit

The first cattle biscuit ever produced in Bangladesh. Formulated with CVASU and manufactured locally in Bangladesh under DLS Category 1 licence.
